This is never going to work. What are the odds of Derek Jeter and Brian Roberts playing more than 40 games together up the middle for the Yankees in 2014?

1947?… Yankees win 97 games and beat the Dodgers in 7 to take the WS. That 1947? Sure, Lonny and Frankie C, weren’t everyday players by a longshot and….

No, I’m not saying we are going to win the WS. Just that these are two talented, fit, hard-nosed players. We’ll see if they still have any game left in ‘em.

The odd of Derek Jeter and Brian Roberts playing more than 40 games together up the middle for the Yankees in 2014 are better than the Yankees winning an A.L.C.S. with Tanaka, Sabathia, and Kuroda; much better.

What are the odds that the excuses for missing the 2014 postseason by a few games will be injuries to Jeter, Roberts, and Ellsbury, and Rodriguez’s suspension?
