Last night, I had a dream that Brian Cashman signed a dog to play for the New York Yankees. Yes, an actual dog.

It was a 3-year old Black Labrador Retriever – and, Cashman signed it to a $3 million dollar contract.

Cashman was quoted after the signing as saying “This gives us another option. It’s another nugget. We feel that there’s potential here to a plus-defender at a premium position.”

Can I blame this on the cold and cough medicine?

One of the problems with this dream is that the dog was 3 three years old – that’s only 21 in second baseman years. Cashman would be more likely to sign a black Labrador Retriever in the 5-6 year old age-range to a $3 million contract to play a premium position.

      “I don’t care if it’s canine, I care if it’s good.” – Brian Cashman.

Did the dog have better career postseason stats than Nick Swisher?

Cashman’s Asst. GM and top lieutenant was more impressed with a border collie he scouted, but Cashman went with the lab. Brian Cashman’s “All Or Nothing Big Hairy Labrador Retriever That Mashes” – a signing right out of the Gene Michael Playbook For Postseason Success.
