Pitiful. Beltran has become a black hole in the lineup. When he bats with a runner on first, I hope for K’s to avoid GIDP. The NYY really need to cut their losses. I would prefer to see his roster spot occupied by Slade Heathcott or Aaron Judge.

What idiot (Cashman or Hal/Hank) concluded that it was prudent to give someone of Beltran’s age & body habitus a 3-year, $45M contract in this post-PED era? The Steinbrenner boys should concede ineptitude and re-hire Steve Swindal.

Just today, Girardi said: “It’s just he’s going through a hard month… Carlos will tell you when he’s done. It’s not our job to tell him when he’s done. He’s going to let us know. But I still think there’s a lot of good baseball in him.” His view from the dugout must be very distorted, indeed.

I’m not clear why the Yanks didn’t take a flyer on Josh Hamilton, for essentially nothing. An “expected” season from Hamilton, even now, would be better than Beltran’s “best case scenario”. Even stranger, is that the deal with Texas was the “best that they could get”. There must be a LOT of “stuff” that hasn’t made the press yet…..

Way, way too early to make the call on Beltran.

At this moment, the Astros are in first place.
At this moment, the Brewers are headed for 130 losses.
At this moment, Jose Bautista is batting .140.
At this moment, Jose Iglesias is batting .397.
Right now, Mark Teixeria is on his way to 64 home runs. And 144 RBI. And a .227 BAVG.
Right now, Kyle Lohse has a 7.94 ERA and Carlos Quintana has 6.55 ERA, and Rick Porcello has a 6.48 ERA, and Jon Lester has a 6.23 ERA.
And Nick Martinez has an ERA of 0.35.
…and on and on and on like that.

      ===========================================
My usual veteran marker is about 50-60 games in, more or less the 1st half of June. If Beltran’s still hitting like that, then it’s time to do something. In the meantime, Heathcott has to prove he can stay healthy for more than 40 games at a time, and Judge has yet to prove he can hit AA pitching. If need be, they can platoon Jones and Young, or call up Pirela when he’s ready, among other options.

      @ Evan3457:Bravo! Well said! You’d NEVER get a job at ESPN 😉

      @ KPOcala:
Been too long buddy, but on this one, living in Texas, I have to say… “Hell no.” The last thing that troubled soul needs is a venue like NYC. I know a guy from the Tampa area that was very influential in getting Hamilton back into baseball. He’s told me many times that Josh would have had no chance without his supportive wife… Their divorce is now pending. This will not end well.

The stories of Hamilton having carnal knowledge with “new friends” in public parking lots outside bars while on 3 day benders are well known among the Dallas/Arlington PD. I can only imagine that with Darvish down and by getting him for pennies on the dollar, the Rangers decided that could sell it to their fans in an otherwise lost season.

Tanaka out for maybe a month with tendinitis. No damage to UCL on MRI, but still shut down 7-10 days, then rehab.

Well, that’s it. Season over. Fun while it lasted.

God, you are ALL the worst Yankee fans I’ve ever seen. Glad to see you comforting each other on the same site.

Seriously, all of you, get a frickin grip.

Oh, ho, ho, irony! Oh, no, no, we don’t get that here. See, uh, people ski topless here while smoking dope, so irony’s not really a, a high priority. We haven’t had any irony here since about, uh, ’83, when I was the only practitioner of it. And I stopped because I was tired of being stared at.

@ #15:Hey THX for that bit of news. Makes total sense now. It really shows how hard it is to judge what GMs have to consider before acquiring a player. Commentary really should be done years after a GM leaves/gets fired!

      Up to .242/.276/.384.

Not doing much on either side of the ball. Bat’s not there, glove apparently isn’t either. Blocked @ DH by Rodriguez, will be interesting to see things going forward.

The defense was supposed to be the Yankees’ strength this year, but I don’t think it has been.
