• It’s Time To Pull The Plug On Pineda

Over his last 20 starts of 2015, Michael Pineda’s ERA was 5.04 (in 114.3 IP). This season, in his first 4 starts, his ERA is 6.95 (in 22 IP).

How much more do we need to see before people figure out that he’s not good?

His 2 starts before yesterday were OK. 6 innings ea game, 2 earned runs.

Who would replace him? Nova? Who replaces Nova?

Let’s face it, the Yanks currently have three pitchers who are pitching like fifth/sixth starters. The Yankees need for the “Terrible Three” to figure it out, or else blow the team up. The “Three” just “Might” put it together, but sheesh, we still have an old, largely ineffective middle of the line-up, what to do?

I can’t play the “who would you replace him with?” game since Cashman doesn’t provide any other options. There’s no depth or alternatives now. But, I do know that running him out there is not working. The last 136 innings speak for themselves.

Just wait until Tanaka’s elbow blows up. It’s still a ticking time bomb.

@ Steve L.:Nolan Ryan’s elbow was “hanging by a thread” when he was in his forties. He said he’d pitch till his arm fell off. It never did. Of course, Ryan had a very interesting career arc, so who knows?

As per RAB:”Bad news: right-hander and top pitching prospect James Kaprielian is heading to the High-A Tampa DL, the Yankees announced. The team says he will be “treated conservatively” with rest and a throwing program, and there is no timetable for his return. The MRI showed no structural damage in his elbow, so that’s good”.

      The “Cursed Year”.

Nobody’s pulling the plug on anyone 4 starts into the season. Jeez.

You want to turn a blind eye to the last 114 innings of last year? Really?

The Yanks are all set. They’ve signed Phil Coke to AAA contract

George is dead. Let him rest in peace.

I wrote this on a different thread. So, yes it’s time to pull the plug.

Including last night’s game, according to North Jersey.com:

“Over his last 10 starts of 2015 and his first 10 of 2016, Pineda has a combined 5-11 record and a 6.30 ERA.”

“Opponents are batting .452 (42-for-93) with 23 extra-base hits against Pineda with two out, including Saturday’s 5-for-8 with three extra-base hits.”

Let’s not forget that he was a run of stink before this season even started. What you see now is not something new.

Middle/Long relief. Let him work out his problems there.
