So, of course, you know I stayed up until (what was) 2 AM this morning to watch the whole WBC game last night.

Outstanding game. The tension of sudden death and needing to win for advancing. Full house. Clutch pitching. Close plays. Great defensive plays. Big home runs. Leads gained and lost. Tight run difference for most of the night. Pretty much representative of everything you want to see in a baseball contest.

As far as the Jones’ catch: Given the full-blown 360-degree context of this catch, totally inclusive of all factors, how can it not go down in baseball history as one of the most memorable grabs ever?

Because few people saw it live?

That’s the problem, true part, and sad reality.

I understand why the game was played at 10 PM EST. You’re not going to have a 5 PM start on the West Coast for a game like this one, even with it being on a Saturday.

The games also have a very slow pace. IIRC, at the 3 hour mark, it was the end of the 6th. That was 1 AM.

That all said, it ended around 2 AM. And, it says a lot towards the greatness of the game that I had no issues staying awake to watch the whole thing. Can’t always say that about a Yankees Sunday game on YES at 1 PM. I have fallen asleep in front of a few of those in my time.

There were several good games during the WBC. I was pleasantly surprised by the performances of the Israel, Colombia, and Italy teams

Yes, the Jones catch was amazing.
