What stands out the most in my mind, this past week, is that the Tampa Bay Rays now have the best record in the American League over the last 60 days. And, on June 28th, the Rays became the fastest team ever to reach 100 homers and 100 steals by the All-Star break. It took the Rays 77 games to reach that mark – and the previous fastest were Cincinnati (1977) and Cleveland (1994), who both did it in 84 games. Watch out Yanks, the Rays are coming, and fast.

I didn’t know that stat about fastest to home runs and steals, cool info Steve. But none of us can be surprised. We knew the Rays were going to be fine, you just have to look at their run differential. It should be a fun and tight race in the AL East.

That’s quite an interesting stat. When I think of great teams that could’ve potentially set this record, the Rays don’t come to mind. Of course, the Rays definitely have the speed part covered with Upton and Crawford bot on pace for 60+ steals. The power part surprises me. Other than Carlos Pena and Evan Longoria, they really don’t have power hitters. It’s quite remarkable the kind of season Ben Zobrist is having, going from a reserve player to an indispensible starter overnight.

      Very impressive stat.
