Not only Oakland. They won series vs Boston, CWS & KC, only losing a series vs AZ. And now this sweep.

It’s been a good month for them.

@ redbug: Thank goodness for that. It was getting pretty dicey there.

Well, it is Oakland, and they’re very bad, which is why I was so upset that they let a very bad team sweep them at the Stadium in April. Not just for the three losses, but for the opportunity to beat up a bad team which was lost. This team isn’t so good that it will be able to throw away opportunities like that and get away with it in terms of making the post-season.

But still, they didn’t split, they didn’t just take 3 out of 4, they did take advantage of this opportunity and swept them, and right after the A’s had taken 2 of 3 from the Rays in Tampa, and then swept a pretty good team in the Rangers while the A’s were at home.

But the starting pitching is somewhat better now, and the back of the bullpen is doing the job it’s being paid for. Headaches upcoming: moving A-Rod back into the lineup, weakening the defense by moving Beltran to right, and Beltran is hot at the plate right now, too. I don’t think all that much of what Pineda did yesterday against a very weak lineup in a pitcher’s park.

They need: 4+ runs a game, 3 reliable starting pitchers and to stop making inning-extending defensive errors and blunders. If they get those 3 things, the back of the pen will carry them into contention for a playoff spot.

…and the Yankees have achieved mediocrity!

      Yay!

All it took was getting A-Rod out of the line-up 🙂

      @ Steve L.:

It’s true. W/o Arod, Beltran has DH’d and Hicks has gotten to play regularly.

Well, a few good starts from the rotation might have helped a bit.
      Just a bit.
