They can be if they can improve the plate discipline. The team K/BB ratio in 2017 was 2.25, which still was a 10% improvement over the previous year. Not surprisingly, all five AL playoff teams were top 5, with the Yanks fourth.

We are living in the strikeout age with every team having ten guys who throw 95 mph plus, so Judge, Stanton and Sanchez won’t be turning into DiMaggio in the plate discipline realm. But another 10% improvement could go a long way with better plate discipline and situational hitting, especially when the calendar turns to October.

One aside, looking at the Yanks offense K/BB ratios in the wild card era, you’d think the 1998 team had the best ratio with the way they worked and just wore out pitchers. But it was the ’99 team that had the best full season ratio at 1.36, which was a 14% improvement from the ’98 team at 1.57.

If BOTH Andujar and Torres come through, then it’s possible, assuming Bird comes stays healthy and productive.

IF healthy 1-9 is going to be so darn dangerous. You’ve got HR hitters, contact hitters, and patient guys throughout. There’s also so much depth if/when the inevitable injuries pop up.

      First impressions?

What do you guys think so far? Other than Stanton’s a bum and needs to be traded? 😛 😀

I’m thinking Steve hasn’t made a new post in almost a month, and I hope it’s because he’s busy with work, and not because something bad has happened.
